Allow Android users to mix personal and work data

Problem

Cross profile sharing for the Calendar app is disabled by admin even though the Cross profile sharing setting is enabled in the Admin console.

Environment

  • Managed Android devices
  • Advanced mobile management

Solution

For apps that support it, you can allow users to see their personal data and work data in an app. For example, when this setting is turned on for Google Calendar, users can choose to see their personal calendars in their work profile. Because this setting allows cross-profile communication (between personal and work spaces), it should be turned on only for trusted apps.

  1. In your Admin console.
  2. Go to Menu > Apps > Web and mobile apps.
  3. Click on Google Calendar.
  4. Click Connected apps configuration.
  5. On the left, click the organizational unit or group that you want to allow or block.
  6. To allow users to use this feature, check the box.
  7. Click Save.
    • Note: Changes can take up to 24 hours but typically happen more quickly.

Cause

Connected apps configuration needs to be enabled for the Google Calendar app.
