Check file activity

Problem

You want to see if someone has already looked through a file.

Environment

  • Google Docs
  • Google Sheets
  • Google Slides

Solution

  1. On your computer, open the file in Google Docs, Sheets, or Slides that you can edit.
  2. At the top, click  Tools > Activity dashboard.
  3. On the left, click Viewers.

Note: You can only view activity on files owned by a Google Account that can use Activity dashboard, so it won't work on files created through a personal Gmail account or an Unmanaged account.

Keep track of users accessing a file or doc.
