Cannot disable Trusted Platform Module (TPM).
Environment
- Admin console
Solution
To disable your TPM you will need to do so from the BIOS/UEFI menu. Accessing a device’s BIOS/UEFI settings, and finding the TPM settings inside, varies by manufacturer and model. In general the steps are:
- Reboot the device.
- During startup, interrupt boot using your device’s boot-key to access the BIOS. List of device boot-keys here.
- Once inside the BIOS/UEFI menu, you will typically find the TPM settings under sections like Security, Device Configuration, or Advanced Settings.
- TPM names differ across manufacturers, it can sometimes be called TPM, TCG, Embedded Security.
- When changing settings, ensure the TPM is disabled, hidden, and inactive in each way possible. Many devices have multiple settings and/or checkboxes.
- Save your changes and exit.
