Environment

Solution

To disable your TPM you will need to do so from the BIOS/UEFI menu. Accessing a device's BIOS/UEFI settings, and finding the TPM settings inside, varies by manufacturer and model. In general the steps are:

  1. Reboot the device.
  2. During startup, interrupt boot using your device's boot-key to access the BIOS. List of device boot-keys here.
  3. Once inside the BIOS/UEFI menu, you will typically find the TPM settings under sections like Security, Device Configuration, or Advanced Settings.
  4. TPM names differ across manufacturers, it can sometimes be called TPM, TCG, Embedded Security.
  5. When changing settings, ensure the TPM is disabled, hidden, and inactive in each way possible. Many devices have multiple settings and/or checkboxes.
  6. Save your changes and exit.
