Emails rejected due to incorrect mailing rule set up

Problem

By mistake you set up a  mailing rule that causes emails to be rejected, and cannot find a way to find these rejected emails.

Environment

  • Gmail Delivery

Solution

  1. As described in Find messages with Email Log Search you can find all emails that where sent to a specific user, even if they are bounced.
Note: This search only covers the last 30 days, and it can only show up to 1,000 results.

Workaround
You can also check domain wide for the emails sent and received on the last 30 days, but if the message number is greater than 1,000 you will not be able to see all results, and you will need to check user by user filtering the recipient.

In order to make a Domain wide search, please follow these steps.
  1. In the Admin console, go to Menu > Reporting > Email Log Search.
  2. Select a date range from the past 30 days using the Down arrow, or specify a range using the calendar.
  3. Click Search. Please note that search results are returned within a minute or two, but sometimes, it can take up to an hour.
  4. Export the search to an spreadsheet and filter the results by bounced messages.

Cause

Mailing rule was set up incorrectly by mistake.
