Error "You do not have access to this service please contact your administrator" when to accessing Gmail

Problem

When you try to access Gmail you get the following message: 
You do not have access to this service please contact your administrator.

Environment

  • Admin console

Solution

  1. Sign in to the Admin console.
  2. On the left menu navigate to Billing > Get more services.
  3. Click on Switch under Google Workspace Enterprise Plus.
  4. Follow the steps on screen to complete the change.
  5. Once the new subscription has been added, please go back to Get more services.
  6. Click on Switch under Google Workspace Business Starter.
  7. Click on Get started.

Cause

All Google Workspace Essential subscriptions do not include Gmail services.
