Google apps not syncing on unmanaged or basic managed mobile

Problem

Google apps like Drive or Gmail will not sync and may not work as expected.

Environment

  • Android or iOS devices with Basic management or Unmanaged

Solution

  1. Disable Third Party integrations.
  2. Log in to the Admin console.
  3. Navigate to Devices > Mobile & Endpoints > Settings > Third party integrations.
  4. Uncheck the marked box.
  5. Save changes.
  6. Remove the account and add it back in on the mobile device.

Cause

Third party EMM integration causes it to lose sync capabilities, as it's waiting for the third party to manage the device settings and sync.
