How to add Other as an option in Google Forms

Problem

How can you add an Other option in Google Forms as part of a multiple choice question so users can type a short answer.

Environment

Requires having access to the edit view of a Google Form.

Solution

  1. Open Google Forms, either through forms.google.com or Google Drive > New > Google Forms.
  2. Add a new Multiple choice question.
  3. Add an option as Option 1.
  4. In the next option, click Add other.
Note: This option is also available for checkboxes questions.
