How to associate local profile in Outlook and Hotmail with Google Credential Provider

Problem

When trying to associate an existing local profile with Google Credential Provider, you receive the following error message: 
There was a problem while syncing your account password to your Windows Profile.

Environment

  • Outlook
  • Windows
  • Google Credential Provider

Solution

  1. Update the password for your Google Workspace account or Outlook account, as they both need to match. Once the password matches, the profile association will be completed with no issues.
This error message will come up when trying to associate an existing local profile with Google Credential Provider, but this local profile is already associated with an Outlook or Hotmail account.
