How to disable ChromeOS task manager

Problem

As an admin you may want to disable Task Manager so users cannot end processes on their own.

Environment

  • Chrome OS
  • Policies

Solution

1. Login to your Admin console.
2. Go to Devices > Chrome > Settings > Users and browsers.
6. Select the Organizational Unit which contains the users you want to affect.
7. Change the Task Manager policy to Block users from ending processes with the Chrome Task Manager.
8. Save changes.

Note: This action will not disable the prevent users from launching the Task Manager. It will only stop their ability to click the End task button.
