How to reset a Google Meet hardware device

Problem

When trying to reset a Google Meet hardware device, you encounter it is stuck, and it displays a Insert a recovery USB error message.

Environment

  • Google Meet hardware
  • Meet OS

Solution

  1. Turn off the Google Meet device.
  2. Plug in a wired mouse & keyboard.
  3. Boot the device in Developer mode.
  4. Press Ctrl + D on the screen where it says Insert a recovery USB.
  5. Follow the on-screen instructions.
  6. Re-enroll the device normally.

Cause

The device doesn't show up in the initial setup in the Admin console.
