How to set a timezone for chromebooks

Problem

How can you configure the timezone so it is not changed by users?

Environment

  • Chrome OS Managed Chromebooks only

Solution

You must apply Timezone policy applied at device level by following these steps:
  1. On the Admin console, go to the menu at the left and click Devices > Chrome > Settings > Device.
  2. There select the OU where you have the Chromebooks. 
  3. The policy is named Timezone, you can set it to an specific timezone and configure it to: change automatically, change by the user or to never change at all. 

Cause

This is managed through policies, if not set, is managed locally on the device.
