How to transfer Drive files without deleting the user

Problem

How can you transfer Google Drive data as an administrator, without deleting the user.

Environment

  • Google Drive
  • Admin console

Solution

You can use the Transfer ownership tool to transfer the user's Drive data, as described below:

  1. Go to your Admin console.
  2. Click Apps > Google Workspace > Drive and Docs > Transfer Ownership.
  3. Enter the email address of the user where you will be migrating from, under the From user field.
  4. Enter the email address of the user where you will be migrating to, under the To user field.
  5. Click Transfer files.
