Serial number duplicity after re-enrolling

Problem

Two different serial numbers are showing up on the Admin console after the device has been serviced and re-enrolled to the domain.

Environment

  • Admin console

Solution

  1. Log in to the Admin console.
  2. Navigate to Devices > Chrome > Devices.
  3. Find the duplicated serial number.
  4. Deprovision the serial number with the oldest Last policy sync timestamp.

Cause

For devices that need to be repaired, it is necessary to deprovision them before sending them off. Please follow the instructions in this document to do so. However, it should be noted that this process will not apply to all devices with a repair history. The specific repair that was performed on the device will determine whether or not deprovisioning is necessary.
