Unable to replace a device due to provisioning error


You are unable to replace a device for the same model and others were deprovisioned with the message Retire from fleet or Different model replacement by mistake, and they require upgrades.

As per the Chrome license guide the customers may recover them ONLY, if the deprovisioned devices are still available and owned by them:
  1. Re-enroll the deprovisioned devices.
  2. In the Device Management section of the Admin console, deprovision them.
  3. Select Same Model Replacement when prompted to choose a reason for deprovisioning the devices.
  4. The licenses that were previously No Longer Available should now be Available.


When deprovisioning devices as Different model replacement or Retire from fleet the upgrade is set as No longer available to prevent using it on a non allowed device.
