Users automatically sign out when Chrome browser closed

Problem

You are unable to stayed signed in. You are required to sign in your Google Workspace account every time you open Google Chrome browser.

Environment

Solution

Chrome browser
  1. On your computer, open Chrome.
  2. At the top right, click More  > Settings.
  3. Click Privacy and security > Cookies and other site data. 
  4. Find Clear cookies and site data when you close all windows, toggle it off.
  5. Next to Sites that can always use cookies, click Add. 
  6. Enter [*.]google.com.
  7. Click Add.

Admin console

  1. Log in to the Admin console.
  2. Navigate to Devices > Chrome > Settings > Users & browsers > Cookies.
  3. Choose your sign-in settings in:
    • Devices > Chrome > Settings > Users & browsers > Browser sign-in settings.
  4. Your Ephemeral mode:
    • Devices > Chrome > Settings > Users & browsers > Force ephemeral mode.

Cause

Cookies and site data is cleared every time the Chrome browser closes that cause the saved data like their Google Workspace account to be deleted.
