How to allow users to reset their account password


How can you allow users to reset their Google Account password without an administrator intervention?

  • Google Sign-in page


To allow non-administrator users to do a self recovery (reset password), you need to follow these steps: 

Allow user account recovery (administrator settings):

  1. Sign in to the Admin Console.
  2. On the left side, click Security.
  3. Click Authentication > Account Recovery.
  4. In the middle, select the User account recovery box.
  5. Check the box beside the Allow users and non-super admins to recover their account.
  6. Click Save.
Reset password (user's side):
  1. Sign in to the Google Account page.
  2. Enter your email address.
  3. Click Forgot Password.
  4. Follow the steps for the self recovery and then reset the password.
