When you create a matter in Google Vault, you can choose to store and process the data in a specific geographic location. You can implement a data region policy for your organization or any users with supported edition licenses.
Choose a location for your matter
When you create a new matter, select a geographic region for the matter's data storage and processing. You can select one of the following options:
- No preference
- United States
- Europe
Even if you select a geographic region for a matter, a search, export or hold on the matter can include data from all regions. For more information about matters, go to Create and manage matters.
Locations for exports & matters
You can also choose a location when you export data in Vault. For details, go to Choose a location for your Vault export data.
If you choose a location for your export that's different to the location you choose for matters, the storage and processing of data for exports always occurs in the export region.
