Lock a device and reset its password (Android)

As an administrator, you can protect your organization's data by locking a company-owned Android device. You can also reset the device's password.

Lock a device

If you lock a device, users must enter a password before they can use the device.

  1. In the Google Admin console, go to Menu and then Devices and thenOverview and thenMobile Devices. 

    Requires having the Services and devices administrator privilege.

  2. Select the device and click Lock Device.

Reset a device password

  1. In the Google Admin console, go to Menu and then Devices and thenOverview and thenMobile Devices. 

    Requires having the Services and devices administrator privilege.

  2. Select the device and click Reset Device Password.
  3. Enter and then confirm the new password. Make sure the passwords match and that they meet your company's requirements.
  4. Click Reset Password.
