Run a delta import for chat data

After you successfully import data, you can move any new and updated chat data from Microsoft Teams to your Google Workspace account. Run a delta import to transfer the new content.

You can't run a delta import after you click Roll out spaces at the end of a data import.

About delta imports

  • If there are changes to previously imported teams, such as changes to permissions, a delta import identifies and updates users with the new information. Any unchanged items are skipped.
  • If previously imported chat data is deleted in Teams before you run a delta import, the delta import doesn't delete the item in Workspace.
  • Exact permission imports are not guaranteed and can be delayed. Don't move chat data during or in between data imports to ensure the permissions transfer correctly. Review permissions in your Workspace account, and check the data import report for missing or failed permissions.

Run a delta import

Important: If you exit a data import and then start a new import for the same data set, the second import might create duplicate files in Workspace. To prevent duplication, avoid creating 2 separate imports for the same data set.

  1. In the Google Admin console, go to Menu and then Data and then Data import & export and then Data import.

You must be signed in as a super administrator for this task.

  2. For Microsoft Teams, click Import to open your existing data import.
  3. Click Run delta import.

When the data import is complete, you get an email with import statistics. Any reports are attached.
