If your subscription has more than one user, go instead to Archive former employee accounts.
If you have a single-user Google Workspace subscription, you can archive your subscription instead of canceling. When you archive your subscription, you maintain your data and can resume an active subscription when ready.
What happens to my account & data?
After you archive your subscription, you can't sign in to your managed Google Account on any system. You also can't access the associated Google Workspace services, such as Gmail and Google Calendar and Drive. And, you won't get new email and calendar invitations.
Google safely maintains your Workspace services data. If you have a Google Vault license or a license from an Archived User subscription that contains Vault, then your data is protected according to Vault retention rules and holds. You can also search and export the data. Learn more
Your data stays in the same data region you set. For details, go to Choose a geographic location for your data.
Data loss prevention (DLP) for Drive data protection rules continue to run on your' data. For details, go to Create DLP for Drive rules and custom content detectors.
If you have a license for an add-on subscription, such as Vault or Google Voice, you keep the license after archiving your account. If you no longer need the add-on subscription, you can remove the license. Learn more about removing licenses.
Your monthly payment changes to the Archived User price for your subscription. Your invoice is sent to your secondary email address. If you need to add or update a secondary email address, go to Send important messages to another admin account.
Unarchive your subscription
When you unarchive your account, you regain access to all your previous Workspace services and data.
To unarchive your subscription:
- Sign in to the Google Admin console.
- Click Reactivate subscription.
