Using the SAML 2.0 standard, you can configure single sign-on (SSO) for a number of cloud apps. After you set up SSO, your users can use their Google Workspace credentials to sign in to an app using SSO.

Click Add appSearch for apps.
3. For **Enter app name**, enter **Workday**.
4. In the search results, point to **Workday Web (SAML)** and click **Select**.
5. In the **Google Identity Provider details** window, for **Option 2: Copy the SSO URL, entity ID, and certificate**:
1. Next to **SSO URL**, click Copy and save the URL.
2. Next to **Entity ID**, click Copy and save the entity ID.
3. Next to **C** **ertificate**, click Copy and save the certificate.
You need these details to complete the setup in Workday.
6. Click **Continue**.
7. On the **Service provider details** page, for **ACS URL**, replace **{your-workdaydomain/tenant-name}** with your Workday domain and tenant name.
8. Click **Continue**.

(Optional) To map Google directory attributes to the corresponding app attributes, in the Attribute Mapping window:
Click Add Mapping.
Click Select fieldselect a Google directory attribute.
For App attributes, enter the corresponding app attribute.

(Optional) To enter group names that are relevant for this app:
For Group membership (optional), click Search for a group, enter one or more letters of the group name, and select the group name.
Add additional groups as needed (maximum of 75 groups).
For App attribute, enter the corresponding groups attribute name of the service provider.
Regardless of how many group names you enter, the SAML response includes only groups that a user is a member of (directly or indirectly). For more information, go to About group membership mapping.
11. Click **Finish**.
Step 2: Set up Workday as a SAML 2.0 service provider
1. Open an Incognito browser window, go to the **Workday sign-in page**, and sign in with your Workday administrator account.
2. Go to **Edit Tenant Setup - Security**.
3. Go to **Single Sign-on** and click to add a new row to the **Redirection URLs** table.
4. For **Redirect Type**, choose **Single URL**.
5. Click **Login Redirect URL**, enter **https://{your-workday-domain/tenant-name}/login-saml2.htmld**, and replace **{your-workdaydomain/tenant-name}** with your Workday domain and tenant name.
6. In the **SAML Setup** section, check the **Enable SAML Authentication** box.
7. In the **SAML Identity Providers** table, click Add to add a new row.
8. Click **Issuer** and enter the Entity ID that you copied in Step 1.
9. For **x509 Certificate**, click the menu **Create x509 Public Key**.
10. Enter a name for the key.
11. Paste the contents of the certificate that you downloaded in Step 1.
12. Click **OK**.
13. In the **SAML Identity Providers** row:
1. Check the **SP Initiated** box.
2. For **Service Provider ID**, enter **http://www.workday.com**.
The URL must begin with **http**, not https.
3. Check the **Do Not Deflate SP-initiated Request** box.
4. For **IdP SSO Service URL**, paste the SSO URL that you copied in Step 1.
14. Click **Save**.
Step 3: Turn on app for users
Before you begin: To turn a service on or off for certain users, put their accounts in an organizational unit (to control access by department) or add them to an access group (to allow access for users across or within departments).

In the Google Admin console, go to Menu AppsWeb and mobile apps.
To turn a service on or off for everyone in your organization, click On for everyone or Off for everyone, and then click Save.

(Optional) To turn a service on or off for an organizational unit:
At the left, select the organizational unit.
To change the Service status, select On or Off.
Choose one:
If the Service status is set to Inherited and you want to keep the updated setting, even if the parent setting changes, click Override.
If the Service status is set to Overridden, either click Inherit to revert to the same setting as its parent, or click Save to keep the new setting, even if the parent setting changes.

(Optional) To turn on a service for a set of users across or within organizational units, select an access group. For details, go to Customize service access using access groups.
7. Ensure that your Workday user account email domains match the primary domain of your organization's managed Google Account.
Step 4: Verify SSO is working
Workday supports both identity provider-initiated and service provider-initiated SSO.
**Verify identity provider-initiated SSO**

In the Google Admin console, go to Menu AppsWeb and mobile apps.
2. Click **Workday**.
3. In the **Workday** section, click **Test SAML Login**.
The app should open in a separate tab. If it doesn't, troubleshoot the error message and try again.

**Verify service provider-initiated SSO**
1. Close all browser windows.
2. Go to **https://{your-subdomain}.my.workday.com**, replace **{your-subdomain}** with your Workday domain name, and sign in with your Workday administrator account.
You should be redirected to the Google sign-in page.
3. Select your account and enter your password.
After your credentials are authenticated, the app should open.
