Manage access to Gemini features in Workspace services

As an administrator, you can choose to enable or disable Gemini features and the side panel in the following Workspace services:

  • Gmail
  • Calendar
  • Drive, Docs, Sheets, Slides, Forms, Drawings, and Vids
  • Meet
  • Chat
  • Google Workspace Studio

The default setting for Gemini features in Workspace services is on.

Even if Gemini is off for a specific app, users can still access its data when using Gemini in other apps. For example, a user in Gmail can ask Gemini about a Drive file when Gemini is turned off for Drive.

Turn on or off Gemini in a Google service

  1. In the Google Admin console, go to Menu and then Generative AI and then Gemini for Workspace.

    Requires having the Gemini Settings administrator privilege.

  2. Click the Feature access panel.

    Note: Available only with these editions.

  3. (Optional) To apply the setting only to some users, at the side, select an organizational unit (often used for departments) or configuration group (advanced).

  4. Click Edit next to the service you want to enable or disable.

  5. Click On or Off, and then click Save.

Note: To access Gemini in Workspace services, users need to turn on smart features and personalization.
