To ensure a smooth email import using the data import tool, review these monitoring points. Doing so helps you verify that your data appears correctly in your target account.
All email imports
- Confidential email messages import, but their verification isn't updated.
- Dynamic email messages import as standard (simple) messages.
- The import process doesn't modify the sender and recipient IDs (including Bcc and Cc recipients).
- Snoozed or scheduled messages get the All Mail label on the target account and not the Snoozed or Scheduled labels.
- Draft email messages without a specified To address aren't imported.
Google Workspace & Gmail account imports
- Email messages from Google Groups don't import.
- Messages with the Chat label get the Imported Chat label on the target account.
- Archived messages are imported to the All Mail label on the target account, and the archive button remains enabled for the imported message.
- Settings, rules, filters, and signatures aren't imported, but they can be re-created in your target account following an import.
Delta imports
- Updated drafts import as new drafts, and previous versions aren't deleted from the target account.
- If a user sends a draft message following the main import, the data import tool imports the sent message and doesn't delete the original draft.
- If you change the target user after your primary import but before the delta import, previously imported items don't get transferred to the new target user during the delta import process.
