After you successfully import data, you can move any new and updated Microsoft Exchange Online data to your Google Workspace account. Run a delta import to transfer the new content.

About Exchange Online delta imports

  • If there are changes to previously imported Exchange Online users, such as changes to email data, email messages, calendar data, contact data, or permissions, a delta import identifies and updates the file or folder with the new information. Any unchanged items are skipped.
  • If a previously imported user is deleted in Exchange Online before you run a delta import, the delta import doesn't delete the item in Workspace.
  • Exact permission imports are not guaranteed and can be delayed. To ensure that the permissions transfer correctly, don't move data during or in between data imports. Review permissions in your Workspace account, and check the data import report for missing or failed permissions.
  • If you map a new Exchange Online user to an existing Workplace user, a delta import copies all folders and messages from their Exchange Online account to their Workspace account.
  • If you map an existing Exchange Online user to a new Workspace user, a delta import copies only messages that were created or modified since the last import.
  • A delta import doesn't remove any data that you imported to Workspace. If you remove a previously imported user from your list of mapped users and then run a delta import, the user's imported data remains in Workspace.
  • If a previously imported message is moved from FolderA to FolderB in Exchange Online before a delta import, the message is moved from the Gmail label FolderA to the label FolderB during the delta import.
  • If a previously imported folder is renamed from FolderA to FolderB before a delta import, the corresponding label in Gmail is renamed FolderB.
  • If a previously imported calendar is renamed from CalendarA to CalendarB before a delta import, the corresponding calendar in Google Calendar is renamed CalendarB.
  • If a previously imported event is moved from CalendarA to CalendarB before a delta import, a new event is created in CalendarB in Google Calendar. The previous event in CalendarA isn't deleted.
  • Any change to an Exchange Online event is reflected in Google Calendar after a delta import.
  • A delta import updates contacts and labels but doesn't duplicate them. However, if you exit an import and then run a new import, contacts are duplicated.
