Turn conversation sharing on or off

As an administrator, you control whether your users can share their Gemini conversations with others, both outside and inside your organization, using publicly accessible links.

Important

  • If users create a public link to a conversation, anyone with the link can read the conversation, even if the link is not shared with them directly.
  • If you turn this setting off, conversations will no longer be shareable using a public link. However, previously shared conversations links will still be accessible until they are deleted from the Gemini app. For details, go to Share your chats from Gemini Apps.
  • Conversation sharing is turned off by default.

Turn Conversation sharing on or off

  1. In the Google Admin console, go to Menu and then  Generative AI and then Gemini app.

    Requires having the Gemini Settings administrator privilege.

  2. Click Sharing
  3. Scroll to Conversation sharing and select Allow conversation sharing via link.
    1. (Optional) To apply the setting only to some users, at the side, select an organizational unit (often used for departments) or configuration group (advanced).

  4. Click Save.
