Check device status and use

As an administrator, you can monitor and take action on some elements of device and peripheral health. If you are experiencing an issue that can't be resolved, contact your HP Amplify reseller for support.

Check if a device is offline

You can determine whether devices are offline in the admin console for your video conferencing provider.

Click the tab that corresponds to your license.

Google Beam for Meet

To check whether a device is offline:

  1. In the Google Admin console, go to Menu and then Devices and then Google Meet hardware and then Devices.

Some features may require having the Manage devices privilege for Google Meet hardware.
  2. Filter on these columns to see all offline devices:

    • Device model and then HP Dimension
    • Device status and then Offline
  3. Click Offline in the Device status column for detailed issue information, including:

    • When the issue was detected
    • When the issue escalated
    • A description of the issue and recommended actions

Google Beam for Zoom

To check if a device is offline, visit the Zoom web portal and follow the instructions in the Room Health section of Dashboard for Zoom Rooms.

Note: The Zoom web portal Dashboard is view-only—it lets you monitor device and meeting status, but you can't take direct action (such as rebooting or reconfiguring peripherals) from this screen. To manage or troubleshoot a device, go to Room Management and then Zoom Rooms instead.

Check peripheral status

You can determine the health of the peripherals on a device in the admin console for your video conferencing provider.

Click the tab that corresponds to your license.

Google Beam for Meet

The device has several cameras, microphones, and speakers, but peripheral health is reported in the Google Admin console as a single aggregate signal—either Healthy or Missing.

To check peripheral status:

  1. In the Google Admin console, go to Menu and then Devices and then Google Meet hardware and then Devices.

Some features may require having the Manage devices privilege for Google Meet hardware.
  2. In the Devices panel, you can view the full list of devices and their status. Filter on Device model and then HP Dimension to see only Beam-enabled devices. For Missing peripherals, there are two paths you can take to view more details:

    • Go to the Peripheral status column and click the status to view a panel that provides more details, or
    • Click the Device Name to view details. From there, click an issue directly.

Google Beam for Zoom

The device has several cameras, microphones, and speakers, but peripheral health is reported in the Zoom web portal as aggregate signals by type (one signal for all cameras, and so on). It also gives the following information:

  • Status (Offline, Available, In Meeting, Presenting, etc.)
  • Audio and video devices status: camera disconnected, table microphone disconnected, audio issue, display disconnected, touch controller disconnected
  • Zoom version number (device and touch controller)
  • Device IP address (device and touch controller)
  • Current meeting health
  • Meeting details and history (up to 72 hours)
  • Issue alerts for GPU, CPU, and memory load (for example, 90% CPU usage alert)

To check peripheral status, visit the Zoom web portal and follow the instructions in the Dashboard for Zoom Rooms article.

To troubleshoot, follow the recommendations in the panel and Troubleshoot Google Beam issues. If that's unsuccessful, note the device's serial number to share with your reseller for support. With that device information, they can work with you to resolve the issue.

Set up monitoring alerts

As an administrator, you can also set up alerts to help manage devices in your admin console.

Click the tab that corresponds to your license.

Google Beam for Meet

To set up and manage alerts for your devices, see the instructions in Get connectivity and peripherals alerts. Alerts for devices only provide a single issue type for aggregated peripheral information: "Missing room control system."

Google Beam for Zoom

To set up and manage alerts for your devices, see the instructions in Managing Zoom Room alerts. Alerts for devices only provide a single issue type for aggregated peripheral information.

Track device use

To find out how your devices are being used, look at the dashboard for your video conferencing provider.

Click the tab that corresponds to your license.

Google Beam for Meet

To view the Room Insights Dashboard, follow the instructions in Track room and device usage. You can filter on Features and then Google Beam to see only insights for your Beam-enabled devices. Occupancy detection isn't supported.
