This page describes differences in the experience when using Beam devices with Zoom, compared to regular Zoom Rooms.
3D call behavior
- 3D calls can take up to 45 seconds to start.
- Self view in 3D calls isn't available.
- 3D calls don't work with more than one person per Beam room. 3D calls are designed for 1:1 meetings between 2 Beam rooms. For meetings involving more than one person in the same Beam room, tap Disable 3D on the touchscreen to switch to a standard meeting. This ensures a stable and expected meeting experience for all participants.
Presentation mode behavior
- Presenting in 3D Beam meetings isn't supported yet.
- To connect to a 3D Beam call in a Zoom Room, the meeting
must be configured to have the following features turned off. If they're
on, the meeting will switch to a standard Zoom meeting.
- Zoom AI
- Recording
- End-to-End Encryption
Meeting settings
- Some settings are unsupported for Zoom. Go to the Zoom documentation for details.
Device management
- Not all device errors are shown in the Zoom web portal. If you notice issues with a Beam-enabled device and an error doesn't show there, check in Poly Lens, which gives a comprehensive list of errors.
- Firmware updates are automatically installed on Beam devices, and can't be managed in the Zoom web portal. Go to Firmware/OS updates and restart scheduling for details.
- Zoom Rooms app updates are managed in the Zoom web portal using Zoom Device Management. Turn on auto-updates for Beam-enabled devices to ensure you have the latest features.
