Re-enroll a device

Re-enrolling a device after deprovisioning ensures proper license management and device functionality. You may want to re-enroll a device in these situations:

  • The device was deprovisioned for repairs and is ready to return to service.
  • You want to move the device to a different Google Workspace account.
  • You want to change its Beam license to a different video conferencing provider (from Google Beam for Meet to Google Beam for Zoom or vice versa). You also need to buy the appropriate new license for this.
  • You want to change the language or time zone on the device.
  • You want to change the network configuration from DHCP to static IP or the other way around.

Note: To properly re-enroll a device that was previously enrolled, you must first deprovision it.

If you re-enroll a device without first deprovisioning it, the Google Admin console creates a completely new record for it with a new device ID. The old record still exists, and you'll need to deprovision it separately to free up its license. Settings from the old record won't automatically carry over to the new one.

License requirements

When you re-enroll a device, make sure you have enough available licenses in your Google Workspace account. A license needs to be available to assign to the device during re-enrollment.

If you don't have enough licenses, you might need to purchase more or deprovision another device to make more available. Find out how to check your licenses.

Re-enrollment workflow

Re-enrolling a device usually requires coordination between the Workspace administrator and the A/V integrator (AVI). The following steps must be done in order—if the device has already been deprovisioned and factory reset, skip ahead to step 3.

The operations for each step vary depending on the video conferencing platform supported by your Beam license.

Step 3: Re-enroll the device (This workflow is the same as initial enrollment, minus the calibration. Previous calibration data will persist on the device.)
