Google Beam for Meet and Google Beam for Zoom licenses are sold and managed separately from the Google Workspace edition used to enroll the devices. The licenses are sold for a one-year term, starting from the date of purchase and co-termed with the device.
Because all devices are enrolled using the Google Admin console regardless of your video conferencing platform, you manage the licenses there.

Beam license renewal
Google Beam licenses must be renewed annually, and auto-renew by default unless the subscription is explicitly cancelled. If your reseller's payment fails for any reason and isn't resolved by the expiration date, the following sequence occurs until payment has been received:
- The license expires and enters a grace period for 30 days.
- The license is suspended for up to 60 days. During this period, devices can't join meetings or be managed in the Google Admin console.
- If the license still hasn't been renewed by the end of the suspension period, it's cancelled.
- After a period of time, devices with delinquent licenses are automatically deprovisioned, and their data is permanently deleted. At that point, data can't be restored, even if you repurchase licenses.
Note: If you're using Google Beam for Meet licenses, you still have access to other Meet hardware in the Admin console even if the Beam licenses are delinquent.
Transfer a license from one device to another
You might need to switch a license from an existing device to a new one if the device fails or is replaced by a different model.
To transfer a license to another device:
- Deprovision the existing device.
- Enroll the new device with the license.
The available license is assigned to the new device. However, the settings from the old device aren't applied to the new one.
Transfer licenses to a different domain
If your organization's domain changes, existing Beam licenses can be moved from your old domain to the new one. All Beam licenses must be transferred to the new domain.
To transfer licenses to a new domain:
- Make sure the new domain has a paid version of Google Workspace and no assigned Beam licenses.
- Deprovision all devices that have licenses through the old domain.
- Factory reset the devices.
- Ask your reseller to move your Beam licenses to the new domain.
- Enroll the devices in the Google Admin console for the new domain.
