Decommission Beam

In addition to deprovisioning individual Beam devices, you may want to further decommission them and their physical rooms. For example, if a device is reaching end of life, you need to deprovision it, remove it as a resource attached to the room it's in, and have the reseller remove it from the room. This document outlines the steps needed to decommission devices.

The steps for this process vary depending on how you have integrated Google Beam into your network, calendar service, and data collection. You may not need to do all of these steps.

  1. [Optional] Remove the device from the room resource in your admin console.
  2. [Optional] Remove the device from your calendar service.
  3. [Optional] Remove Beam servers from allowlist.
  4. [Required] Deprovision the device.

  5. [Optional] Factory reset the device.

    Note: A factory reset is required when you want to remove logs and other data from the device. Calibration data will remain, however.

  6. [Required] Work with your HP Amplify reseller to have the device physically uninstalled and removed from the room.

Remove a device from a room resource

If you added video conferencing details to a room resource, such as a description, features, or other information, you may want to remove them.

Click the tab that corresponds to your license.

Google Beam for Meet

  1. In the Google Admin console, go to Menu and then Directory and then Buildings and resources and then Manage resources.

    Requires having the Buildings and resources administrator privilege.

  2. Click the room resource for the room that contains the Beam device.
  3. Click Details or Features and then Edit.
  4. After you make your changes, click Save.

Google Beam for Zoom

Go to Managing Zoom Rooms devices in the Zoom documentation for details about removing a device from a Zoom Room.

Remove a device from a calendar service

Google Calendar

For calendar operations, Beam is treated the same as Meet hardware. Go to Change or remove the calendar assigned to a Meet hardware device for instructions.

Microsoft Outlook

For details on turning off an add-in for Outlook, refer to your Microsoft documentation.

Remove Beam servers from allowlist

If you allowlisted Beam's media servers, remove them:
