As an administrator, you can control the Google Meet hardware monitors in your organization so that they automatically turn off after a certain amount of inactivity. You can also keep the displays active during certain periods of time. For example, you might want monitors active in meeting rooms during your regular working hours. You adjust the settings in the Google Admin console.
HDMI-CEC prerequisites
For HDMI-CEC connected displays:
- You might need to turn on HDMI-CEC, change other advanced settings, or update the firmware on your monitor. To do so, consult your monitor manufacturer's documentation.
- Connect an HDMI cable to your display and Google Meet hardware through the HDMI ports.
Known issues with HDMI-CEC displays
Some LG TV models (trade name SIMPLINK for CEC) and Sharp TV models (trade name AQUOS Link for CEC) have compatibility issues related to HDMI-CEC power-off commands, often referred to as System Standby. These devices might not turn off as expected or exhibit other erratic power behavior. Let your users know to help manage their expectations.
While CEC wiring is mandatory for HDMI specifications since version 1.0, each manufacturer implements CEC differently. Consequently, different displays might not support full CEC functionality, leading to inconsistent behavior.
