Manage Carrier Link numbers

This feature is available with the SIP Link Standard and SIP Link Premier subscriptions. Learn more

Before you begin

You’ll need:

  • A Google Workspace account with Google Voice SIP Link licenses set up for Voice
  • Phone numbers from a Google-certified Carrier Link partner
  1. In the Google Admin console, go to Menu and then Apps and then Google Workspace and then Google Voice.

    Requires the Google Voice Admin role.

  2. Click Users and point to the user that you want to assign a number to.
  3. On the right, click Assign number.
  4. In the window that opens, click Carrier number and then Select.
  5. For Carrier, click the Down arrow and select your Carrier Link provider
  6. For Carrier number, click Select a number.
  7. In the list, choose the number that you want to assign, then click Select.
  8. Click Assign Number.
  1. In the Google Admin console, go to Menu and then Apps and then Google Workspace and then Google Voice.

    Requires the Google Voice Admin role.

  2. Click Users and select Batch assign SIP trunk and carrier numbers.
  3. Choose an option:
    • To create a list of numbers and users, click Start a new list and in the Google Sheets file, enter the managed numbers and the users they'll be assigned to.
    • To upload an existing Sheets file that has the managed numbers and assigned users, click Use existing.
  4. (Optional) To override a user's existing number with a new number, check the If a user has an existing number, override it with a new number box.
  5. Click Continue.
  6. Click Add numbers.

At the top of the Admin console, you can review the progress and how long it will take until your numbers are added to your SIP trunk.

  1. In the Google Admin console, go to Menu and then Apps and then Google Workspace and then Google Voice.

    Requires the Google Voice Admin role.

  2. Click Auto attendants.
  3. Click the Auto attendant that you want to assign a Carrier Link number to.
  4. On the left, click Assign a number and then Assign a new number.
  5. In the window that opens, click Carrier number and then Select.
  6. For Carrier, click the Down arrow and select your Carrier Link provider.
  7. For Carrier number, click Select a number.
  8. In the list, choose the number that you want to assign, then click Select.
  9. Click Assign Number.

  2. Click Ring groups.
  3. Click the ring group that you want to assign a Carrier Link number to.
  4. On the left, click Assign a number.
  5. In the window that opens, click Carrier number and then Select.
  6. For Carrier, click the Down arrow and select your Carrier Link provider.
  7. For Carrier number, click Select a number.
  8. In the list, choose the number that you want to assign, then click Select.
  9. Click Assign Number.

  2. If you want to unassign a number to users:
    1. Click Users.
    2. Point to the user and click Edit number.
    3. Click Unassign and then Confirm.
  3. If you want to unassign a number to an auto attendant:
    1. Click Auto Attendants.
    2. Select the auto attendant.
    3. On the left, next to the phone number that you want to unassign, click More and then Unassign and then Unassign.
  4. If you want to unassign a number to a ring group:
    1. Click Ring groups.
    2. Select the ring group.
    3. On the left, next to the phone number that you want to unassign, click More and then Unassign and then Unassign.

Customers can't release phone numbers from the trunk—they can only assign and unassign phone numbers. To release a phone number, contact your Carrier Partner.
