Turn Automatic room check-in on or off

For users in a conference room using Companion mode, simplify the process of joining meetings and prevent disruptive audio feedback using the Automatic room check-in feature.

Before you begin

  1. In the Google Admin console, go to Menu and then Devices and then Google Meet hardware and then Settings and then Device settings and then Room check-in.
  2. Make sure that the Room check-in Device setting is enabled for the device's organizational unit.

Turn Automatic room check-in on or off

  1. In the Google Admin console, go to Menu and then Devices and then Google Meet hardware and then Devices. Some features require the Manage Google Meet hardware privilege. See Administrator privilege definitions.
  2. (Optional) Filter the devices by name or other criteria.
  3. Click the device you want to manage.
  4. Click the Device settings section to expand it.
  5. Click Edit next to Automatic room check-in.
  6. Check or uncheck Let phones and laptops automatically check in to this room.
  7. Click Save.

Update multiple devices at once

To update this setting for multiple devices at once, use bulk action changes or upload a CSV file. For details, see Bulk update Meet hardware settings.

Add Automatic room check-in as a sortable column

To find and manage devices with Automatic room check-in enabled or disabled, add Automatic room check-in as a sortable column in the devices table.
