For users in a conference room using Companion mode, simplify the process of joining meetings and prevent disruptive audio feedback using the Automatic room check-in feature.
Before you begin
- In the Google Admin console, go to Menu

Device settings
Room check-in.
- Make sure that the Room check-in Device setting is enabled for the device's organizational unit.
Turn Automatic room check-in on or off
- In the Google Admin console, go to Menu
Devices
Google Meet hardware
Devices. Some features require the Manage Google Meet hardware privilege. See Administrator privilege definitions.
- (Optional) Filter the devices by name or other criteria.
- Click the device you want to manage.
- Click the Device settings section to expand it.
- Click Edit next to Automatic room check-in.
- Check or uncheck Let phones and laptops automatically check in to this room.
- Click Save.
Update multiple devices at once
To update this setting for multiple devices at once, use bulk action changes or upload a CSV file. For details, see Bulk update Meet hardware settings.
Add Automatic room check-in as a sortable column
To find and manage devices with Automatic room check-in enabled or disabled, add Automatic room check-in as a sortable column in the devices table.
