Note: Skills are only available to customers enrolled in the Gemini Beta program.

Users can create skills in Google Workspace Studio to give Gemini in Workspace specialized, reusable instructions and expertise for specific tasks. Skills are like pre-set prompt extensions that save users time for recurring, on-demand Gemini-assisted work. The skills they create in Studio can be used directly in Studio, by the "Ask Gemini" step in a flow, and in Gemini in Workspace.

If you turn off skills, users can't use any existing skills or access the skills page in Studio.

Users designated as under 18 can't use AI features in Workspace Studio. This includes creating and sharing skills.

To change who can use skills for all or some of your users:

  1. In the Google Admin console, go to Menu and then Apps and then Google Workspace and then Workspace Studio.

Requires having the Service Settings administrator privilege.

  2. Click Skills > Create and use skills.
  3. (Optional) To apply the setting only to some users, at the side, select an organizational unit (often used for departments) or configuration group (advanced).

Group settings override organizational units. Learn more

  4. Choose an option.
  5. Click Save. Or, you might click Override for an organizational unit.

To later restore the inherited value, click Inherit (or Unset for a group).

Changes can take up to 24 hours but typically happen more quickly. Learn more
