About Voice Starter (for Gmail accounts)

Applies only to Voice Starter standalone subscriptions that are not a part of a Workspace subscription. To learn about add-on Voice subscriptions for Workspace, go to Add Voice to Google Workspace.

If you need professional-grade telephony features, you can sign up for Google Voice Starter without a Google Workspace subscription.

Eligibility requirements

  • Voice Starter is available as a standalone subscription for users in the U.S. who are 18 years of age and older with a personal Gmail account that ends in @gmail.com.
  • If you have pending number ports on a free Voice account, you need to complete or cancel the porting before signing up for Voice Starter.
  • You can't sign up for a Voice Starter standalone subscription if you have:
    • A personal Google account that is not @gmail.com
    • A domain-verified Workspace account
    • A Voice service associated with a Google Fiber plan
    • A Workspace Individual subscription

Before you begin

Set up Voice Starter

  1. Go to the Google Voice homepage and click Get Started.
  2. Follow the on-screen instructions.

Manage your account in the Admin console

With a Voice Starter standalone subscription, you get access to the Google Admin console.

To sign in:

  1. Go to admin.google.com.
  2. Sign in using your Gmail account.
