Upgrade from Voice Starter or Voice Standard (for Gmail accounts)

Applies only to Voice Starter standalone and Voice Standard standalone subscriptions. If you have a Voice add-on subscription, go instead to Upgrade your Voice add-on subscription.

If you have a Google Voice Starter standalone or Google Voice Standard standalone subscription and want to add users or access more features, you can upgrade to Google Workspace with a Voice add-on subscription.

Upgrade from Voice Starter standalone to Voice Standard standalone

  1. In the Google Admin console, go to Menu and then Billing and then Buy or upgrade.

    Requires having the Billing management privilege.

  2. On the side, click Google Voice.
  3. For Google Voice Starter, click Switch.
  4. Click Checkout and then Place Order.

Upgrade from Voice Starter standalone or Voice Standard standalone to Google Workspace with a Voice add-on subscription

Step 1: Upgrade to Google Workspace

To access more features, first upgrade to a Workspace Business edition. When you upgrade, your Voice Starter or Voice Standard service converts to an add-on subscription. Learn more about Business editions.

  1. In the Google Admin console, go to Menu and then Billing and then Buy or upgrade.

    Requires having the Billing management privilege.

  2. Next to the edition that you want to switch to, click Get Started.
  3. Review the edition's details and click Next.
  4. Select a payment plan for your new subscription:
    • Flexible Plan—No long-term commitment, pay for the users that you have each month, and add or remove users as needed.
    • Annual Plan (Monthly Payment)—Requires a one-year contract. Pay a monthly user commitment and add users as needed.
  5. Click Checkout.
  6. Enter your billing information and click Place Order.

Step 2: Verify your domain

To unlock administrative features, follow the steps to verify your domain.

(Optional) Step 3: Assign Voice licenses to users

Once you have purchased a Google Workspace subscription and verified your domain, you can assign licenses for up to 10 users with a Voice Starter add-on subscription and an unlimited number of users with a Voice Standard add-on subscription.

  1. To add users, follow the steps in Add an account for a new user.
  2. Follow the steps to assign Voice licenses to users.

(Optional) Step 4: Upgrade your Voice subscription

If you want more telephony features or need to add more users, you can upgrade your Voice Starter add-on subscription to Voice Standard or Voice Premier, or you can upgrade your Voice Standard add-on subscription to Voice Premier. For details, go to Compare Voice features by plan.

  1. In the Google Admin console, go to Menu and then Billing and then Buy or upgrade.

  3. For Google Voice Standard or Google Voice Premier, click Switch.
  4. Click Checkout and then Place Order.
  5. (Optional) To add more users to your subscription:
    1. Add an account for a new user.
    2. Assign Voice licenses to users.
