As an administrator, you can let people in your organization use AI note-taking during Voice calls. After the call ends, a recording, transcription and notes are stored in Google Voice and emailed to the person who started the note-taking.
AI notes documents follow Meet retention policies. For more information, go to Retain Google Meet data with Vault.
Important notes about AI note-taking and Voice:
- This feature requires an eligible Google Workspace subscription and Voice add-ons.
- This feature is available only in English.
- This feature supports one language at a time. Multiple languages spoken in the same call aren't currently supported.
- This feature is available in Web, Android, and iOS.
Turn on Gemini in Voice

In the Google Admin console, go to Menu
Generative AI
Gemini for Workspace.
You must be signed in as a super administrator for this task.
Click the Feature access panel.

(Optional) To apply the setting only to some users, at the side, select an organizational unit (often used for departments) or configuration group (advanced).

Click
Edit next to Google Voice.
Click On, and then click Save.
Turn on automatic call recording
Applies only to Voice add-on subscriptionsThe use of AI note-taking during calls in Voice requires you to enable automatic call recording.
Before you begin: If you need to set up a department or team for this setting, go to Add an organizational unit.

In the Google Admin console, go to Menu

Google Voice.
Requires the Google Voice Admin role.
- Click Settings
Policies.
- (Optional) To apply the setting to a department or team, at the side, select an organizational unit.
- Click Automatic call recording and choose All calls.
- For Announcements:
- Specify a message for inbound and outbound calls. The message plays when a user starts AI note-taking.
- Next to the announcement, click More
to use an uploaded audio or text-to-speech message or to delete the announcement.
- If you have multiple messages, you can change their position by clicking
More
Move up or Move down.
- Click Add another announcement to add announcements for other languages.
Under Gemini Notes, choose On.

Click Save. Or, you might click Override for an organizational unit.
To later restore the inherited value, click Inherit.
Click On-demand recording and repeat Steps 5 through 7.
